How to Cook Quince Apple

Quince fruit (Quince Apple) belongs to rose family with similar shape to apple and pear. The skin is quite pale yellow color with several black spots. The tree can grow up to 12-20 feet and has a very good smell when the fruits are ripe. Quince is packed with nutrients such as Vitamins A, B, and C, minerals like copper, potassium, selenium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and iron, as well as fiber. Ingredients:

Recipe Specific Ingredients:

Quince Apples: 6

Basic Ingredients:

Asafoetida: 1 pinch

Fennel Powder: 1 tsp

Ginger Powder: 1/2 tsp

Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tsp

Coriander powder: 1/2 tsp

Kashmiri Red Chilly Powder: 1 tsp

Salt: 1 tsp

Cooking Oil: 3 spoons for Frying and cooking

Other Spices:

Black Pepper Corns: 4-5

Cinnamon: 1 inch

Big Cardamoms: 3-4 Nos.

Green Cardamoms: 3-4 Nos.

Cloves: 3 Nos.

How to do Basic Preparation for Making cooking Quince Recipe:

Raw Quince

Cut the Quince Apples into pieces

Remove the seeds and peel them.

Wash with clean water

How to Fry Quince Apples:

Heat some oil in a pan.

Add the cut raw pieces of Quince apples.

Shallow fry them till they turn golden brown.

Take them out in a separate plate/bowl.

How to Cook Quince Apple:

Heat some oil (1 spoon) in a pan

Add 1 piece of cinnamon, 2 Big Cardamoms, 3 green Cardamoms, 3 cloves and saute them well.

Add one pinch of Asafoetida and 1/2 spoon of Cumin Seeds.

Add 1 tsp of fennel powder, 1/2 tsp of ginger powder, 1/2 spoon of Turmeric Powder, 1/2 Coriander powder and mix well.

Add 1/2 cup of water so that the spices don’t burn.

Add 1 tsp of Kashmiri Red chilly Powder and 1 tap of salt (as per taste) and mix well.

Add the fried quince to the pan and mix well.

Add water to cover the quince.

Cover the lid and let it simmer till quince get tender.

Add freshly made cinnamon, Cardamom and pepper powder and boil for another 3-4 minutes. Adjust the gravy as per your taste and requirements.

Dish it out to a serving bowl and it is ready to serve.

Quince Apple Curry

It goes well with rice. You may take it with Chapati or Nan.
