Papita ki Sabzi, Green Papaya Recipe

Papaya is believed to have originated in Central America and Southern Mexico but is now grown in many other parts of the world. This amazing fruit is loaded with health benefits and nutrients. It is a very good anti-oxidant and helps weight loss. It is good for skin and hair. Raw Papaya is consumed in cooked form. Here I demonstrate the full recipe. Ingredients:

Recipe Specific Ingredients:

Papaya: 500 gms

Spice Ingredients:

Asafoetida: 1 pinch

Cumin Seeds: 1/2 tea spoon

Turmeric Powder: 1/2 tsp

Fennel Powder: 1 tea spoons

Ginger Powder: 1/2 tea spoon

Coriander Powder: 1/2 tsp (Optional)

Pepper Corn: 1 tsp

Big Cardamom: 2-3 Pieces

Cinnamon: 1 piece of 1 inch length

Cloves: 3-4

Basic Ingedients:

Salt: 1/2 tsp (as per taste)

Red Chilly Powder: 1 tea spoon

Mustard Oil: 2 spoons

How to prepare to make Kachey papita ki Recipe (Raw Papaya Recipe):

Clean and wash the papaya. Peel it and remove the seeds and the thin layer there. Cut it into medium pieces.

Grind one stick of cinnamon, 2-3 Big cardamoms and 1 tsp of pepper corns to powder.

How to cook Green Papaya:

Heat some oil (2 spoons) in a pan.

Add a pinch of asafoetida, and 1tsp of cumin seeds and saute them well.

Add chopped papaya and shallow fry it on low to medium flame.

Add 1 inch Cinnamon, 2-3 Cloves, 2 Large Cardamoms and saute them well.

Add 1/2 tsp of turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp coriander powder, 1/2 tsp ginger powder, 1tsp fennel powder, 1 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilly powder and 1/2 spoon Salt and mix well.

Add little water so that the spices don’t burn.

Simmer for 2-3 minutes till spices are mixed well and cooked.

Add 1 glass of water and mix well. Cover the lid and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

Now add Grinded spices (Cardamom, Cinnamon and Black Pepper) to it and mix it well. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes and turn off the flame.

Dish it out and garnish with green coriander leaves.

Papaya curry is ready to be served. It goes well with chapatis and rice equally.
